Hairdresser's Disco Ball & Fantasy Hair Show fundraising benefit for AIDs Related Community Services
I created this fundraiser for ARCS last year....we sold out to an amazing crowd of 300. It brings AIDS Awareness to my community and raises money for a great AIDS organization. This year is a bigger venue to hold more people with 19 hair salons uniting forces to entertain with an avant garde hair show following with a disco dance party. I was hoping to hear from someone out of HAA and I am disappointed to say that I never do. I've written several times to see if you could be a sponsor to our show, give us posters to display the evening of.....I've been called the Grassroots Movement of the Hairdresser's Against AIDS by Jo Blackwell, whom I met at the Intercoffiure Hair Show and I would so love to hear from your organization in regards to any help you may offer....I use Hairdresser's AGainst AIDS as our platform...

Aids is not taken as seriously as it should be anymore.
Many men of the African American. Community and A lot of the gay community here in Orlando FL, don't take HIV/AIDS seriously. They think you can just take a pill everyday and the virus won't affect your life. So they opt out of using condoms. I beg to differ. Although HIV is easier to live with it is still a major threat to human life. Highly publicized ads showing the worst HIV can do instead of people living over glamorized healthy lives, might wake some people up about the issue.

The Salon Professionals Academy
Today at school a representative from Pureology came and spoke to us about this wonderful campaign that has been going on. I have never heard of it before. Now that I am coming up on my graduation date, I am excited and want to be apart of this change towards AIDS. I am very touched to know that there are so many people who care and are willing to use their voices. Thank You for the inspiration!!! I promise to educate my family and friends, so they also can pass on the knowledge and not the disease!!!<3<3<3

AIDS BLOWS: Beauty Fights The Beast
My name is Louis Fedele, I had heard from Lori Zabel about last years amazing campaign, Hairdressers Fight Against AIDS. I was thrilled to hear what Loreal has created because I have been HIV for about four years now. Last year I created an event called, AIDS BLOWS: Beauty Fights the Beast, we held it at Bamboo Salon where I work. We had a fun filled night were we opened the doors of our salon to the community, we raised money ,provided services ( Blowouts, Makeup, etc.) food/drinks(booze), a DJ, raffles and invited the Community Health Action to provide education and condoms. The opportunity was to impact the community of hairdressers and people living with/without HIV/AIDS on Staten Island. Last night I was talking to Erica Wright who inspired me to reach out and take this to the next level. I find what you and Loreal have been doing to fight this disease very admirable and want to be a part of it . I am coming to you because I would love to share myself and my story . I would also love to share my event with Hair Dressers Fight Against AIDS. I know we can take it to the next level and create something huge that will impact the world. If there is anything you can do to get me involved it would be greatly appreciated. I think what you and our fellow hairdressers are doing for my HIV/AIDS community is so life changing and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Looking forward to hear from you.
Sincerly, Louis

Collectively Using Our Voices
August 7, 2011 we did a benefit for AIDS-Related Community Services in the Hudson Valley, The Hairdresser's Disco Ball & Fantasy Hair Show, which raised $5000 for this not for profit organization. It was a huge success and we are making it an annual benefit. I created and organized the benefit with the help of eleven hair salons. I need help in getting sponsorship for our 2012 benefit. Who can I go to? Celebrity hair stylist, Jason Backe of Ted Gibson Salon attended and was kind enough to invite me behind the scenes of Intercoiffure Show at the Waldorf in Oct. He introduced me to many people and they are calling me the "grass roots movement" for Hairdresser's Against Aids.

Help!
I am a person living with AIDS. I am also a single parent, a working mom, a college student, and I can't seem to find (or afford ) somewhere to get my hair cut. My self esteem is low and I usually can feel a little better about myself if my hair looks nice. I have been cutting it myself and it is a mess! Can you help me find somewhere near the Albany NY area?
Thank you, Terri
